Breast cancer surgery aims for complete oncological resonance while maximally preserving cosmesis.

Surgical Options

• Wide Local Excision (WLE): Breast-conserving surgery, mandating clear margins and typically followed by whole-breast radiotherapy.
• Mastectomy: Complete removal of breast tissue, indicated for multifocal disease or high-risk genetic mutations (BRCA).

Axillary Management

Axillary staging is crucial for determining prognosis and systemic therapy.

• Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy (SLNB): Recommended for clinically node-negative patients to avoid unnecessary morbidity.
• Axillary Lymph Node Dissection (ALND): Required if heavy nodal involvement is proven.
